ING Bank Romania Launches ING Depo Invest Savings Product

ING Bank Romania Launches New Investment Product

ING Bank Romania has launched ING Depo Invest, a new financial product that combines a term deposit with mutual fund investments. This product allows customers to manage their savings and investments through a fully digital process via Home’Bank. The investment amount is split evenly: 50% goes into a term deposit and 50% into a mutual fund chosen by the customer.

Customers can begin with an initial investment of RON 2,000 or EUR 2,000. For those choosing RON, half of the amount is placed in a 6-month term deposit with a preferential interest rate of 7%. For the EUR option, the deposit lasts for 3 months at an interest rate of 2.5%. The other half is invested in a mutual fund selected from the options available in Home’Bank, based on the customer's financial goals and risk profile.

The bank noted that saving is a common habit among its customers, with 52% holding a savings account. About 500,000 customers transfer money into their savings accounts right after receiving their salaries. ING Depo Invest aims to attract customers who want to diversify their savings into investments while enjoying a higher interest rate than standard term deposits.

"Saving is one of the most important financial habits we can develop, as it provides both security and the freedom to respond to unexpected needs," said a bank representative.

Market Impact

This new product could draw more customers to ING Bank, potentially increasing both deposits and mutual fund investments. The competitive interest rates may also affect savings behavior across the banking sector. Investors will be watching for customer uptake and feedback on the product's performance in the coming months.
