Porsche AG has signed a $1.5 billion deal with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to use artificial intelligence in its operations. The five-year partnership aims to improve AI capabilities in Porsche's engineering, manufacturing, and customer experience areas. This information comes from TCS's statement on August 24. As part of the deal, TCS will also buy Porsche's consulting unit in Germany, MHP Management- und IT-Beratung GmbH, for $373 million.
Deal Details
The deal is valued at 1.25 billion euros and includes a major IT modernization effort. TCS will add an AI layer to various functions at Porsche. This is expected to generate about $290 million in annual revenue for TCS. This agreement is TCS's second major contract in less than eight months, following a $1 billion deal with Telefónica SA. TCS's recent contracts and acquisitions are part of a plan to boost growth after its first annual revenue decline since going public in 2004.
European Expansion
The purchase of MHP is part of TCS's larger strategy to strengthen its presence in Europe. TCS already gets a third of its revenue from this region. Recent contracts, including an $800 million deal with SKF and a $644 million contract with Tryg, show growing momentum in the European market. The Porsche deal needs regulatory approvals and is expected to be finalized in three to four months.

The deal is likely to increase TCS's revenue from Europe, especially in the automotive sector, as it expands its services. Investors will be watching for regulatory approval of the acquisition and further updates on TCS's European strategy.
