Infosys Q1 Profit Rises 12% YoY; New CEO Designate Announced

Infosys reported a consolidated net profit of ₹7,769 crore for the first quarter of the financial year 2026-27, marking a 12.3% increase from ₹6,921 crore in the same period last year. However, the profit declined 8.6% from ₹8,501 crore in the previous quarter. The company announced its results on July 23, 2026, alongside a new leadership appointment.

Revenue Growth and Attrition Rate

Revenue from operations increased to ₹48,211 crore, reflecting a 14% year-on-year rise and a 3.9% increase from the previous quarter. The company's voluntary attrition rate improved to 13% on a trailing 12-month basis, down from 14.4% in the same quarter last year, although it rose slightly from 12.6% in the prior quarter. Infosys had a total workforce of 328,062 employees as of June 30, 2026, a decrease of 532 employees from March 2026. CFO Jayesh Sanghrajka stated,

Leadership Transition

Infosys also announced the appointment of Ashiss Kumar Dash as CEO designate, effective April 1, 2027. Nandan Nilekani, Chairman of the Board, expressed confidence in Dash's ability to lead the company through a transformative period. Salil Parekh will continue as CEO until the end of March 2027 to ensure a smooth transition.

Brokerage firm Motilal Oswal anticipates a potential revision of Infosys' FY27 revenue guidance, suggesting a possible reduction in the upper end by 50 basis points, adjusting the range to 1.5%-3.0% year-on-year. The firm expects the US banking and financial services sector to remain resilient, while telecom and manufacturing may face challenges due to client-specific issues.
