Fifth Third Bank Reports $866 Million Net Income in Q3 2026

Fifth Third Bank reported a net income of $866 million for the third quarter of 2026. This marks a 33% increase from the same period last year. The growth follows the completion of the integration with Comerica. This process required about four million hours of work and the onboarding of 600,000 accounts, according to Chief Financial Officer Bryan Preston. CEO Tim Spence called the quarter a "defining moment in the history of our company."

Key Details

Now that most of the integration is complete, Fifth Third plans to focus on growth. Preston said, "What's going to be exciting from here is being in a position to focus on growth now, because we're past the heavy conversion work." He also noted that cultural integration is still important. Over a third of the staff joined the bank within the past year.

Background

Fifth Third is also launching a new offering called Innovation Banking. This service combines its embedded banking platform Newline with Comerica's venture banking services. The goal is to provide complete banking solutions for technology companies at different stages of development. David Whiting, head of innovation banking, said the bank is building services for the entire innovation economy lifecycle, from startups to established firms. The bank expects to attract up to $10 billion in new deposits through this initiative.
