Petrol sales in Russian-occupied Crimea will be suspended starting Sunday morning as a severe fuel crisis grips the region. Sergey Aksyonov, the Moscow-backed governor of Crimea, announced the halt in sales, stating that fuel will only be available to government agencies responsible for the functioning and security of the peninsula. This decision comes as long queues form at petrol stations amid dwindling supplies.
The crisis has been exacerbated by Ukraine's ongoing military campaign targeting Russian energy infrastructure. Ukrainian forces have intensified strikes on oil facilities, including refineries and depots, as well as fuel trucks destined for Crimea. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukrainian forces have successfully targeted logistics facilities on both sides of the Crimean Bridge, aiming to isolate the region further.
