Reliance Industries Q1 profit drops 22.4% amid revenue rise

Reliance Industries reported a 22.4% year-on-year decline in its consolidated net profit for the quarter ending June 30, 2026, reaching ₹20,946 crore. This figure is down from ₹26,994 crore in the same period last year. The results were announced after market hours on June 17, 2026.

Key Details

Despite the profit drop, the company's revenue from operations increased by 25.4% year-on-year to ₹3,11,850 crore, compared to ₹2,48,660 crore in Q1FY26. On a sequential basis, revenue rose by 4.4% from ₹2,98,621 crore reported in the previous quarter. The consolidated EBITDA also saw a rise of 10.1% year-on-year and 11.3% quarter-on-quarter, reaching ₹54,067 crore.

Background

The decline in net profit was attributed to a high base from the previous year, which included a one-time gain of ₹8,924 crore from the sale of Reliance's stake in Asian Paints. Excluding this exceptional item, the net profit for the quarter showed a 15.9% increase year-on-year. Seema Srivastava, Senior Research Analyst at SMC Global Securities, noted that Reliance began FY27 on a strong note, with record recurring EBITDA and robust revenue growth, particularly driven by Jio Platforms, which saw a revenue increase of 12% to ₹45,961 crore.

Market Impact

The decline in net profit may influence investor sentiment towards Reliance Industries shares, particularly as the stock is likely to be closely watched in the upcoming trading sessions. Investors will watch for further developments regarding Jio's IPO, which could unlock additional value for the company.
