Corruption Probe Targets Former NYC Mayor’s Adviser and NYPD Officials

Frank Carone, a former senior adviser to ex-New York City Mayor Eric Adams, was arrested on Wednesday as part of a federal corruption investigation. The arrest followed a raid on Carone's home by federal agents, who are reportedly examining an alleged bribery scheme linked to his tenure in office. A spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York has not commented on the ongoing investigation, which also involves current and former members of the New York Police Department (NYPD).

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed the investigations via social media, stating that the Internal Affairs Bureau and the FBI executed search warrants as part of the criminal probe. The investigations are said to be part of a long-running effort to uncover bribery and misconduct that allegedly occurred over several years within the department. While it remains unclear if any current or former NYPD officials were arrested during the raids, the situation has raised significant concerns about corruption within the city's law enforcement.

Carone, who has been a prominent figure in New York's political landscape, is known for his close ties to Adams. A spokesperson for Adams expressed support for Carone, emphasizing his years of public service and the ongoing nature of the legal proceedings. The investigations come at a critical time for the Adams administration, which has faced scrutiny over its handling of public safety and governance issues in the city.
