Halliburton Reports Q2 Earnings Amid Regional Challenges

Halliburton Company reported second-quarter earnings on Tuesday, showing a net income of $534 million, or $0.64 per diluted share, up from $472 million, or $0.55 per share, a year earlier. Revenue rose to $5.7 billion, exceeding the $5.5 billion estimate, driven by stronger drilling and completion activity in key markets. The company noted an operating margin of 14% and generated $824 million in operating cash flow during the quarter.

Segment Performance

The Completion and Production division generated $3.2 billion in revenue, reflecting a 6% sequential increase, supported by heightened stimulation work in the Western Hemisphere and improved well intervention services in Asia. Drilling and Evaluation revenue also saw a 5% sequential rise to $2.5 billion, although operating income for this segment fell 4% due to lower seasonal software sales. North America revenue increased by 7% to $2.3 billion, while international revenue rose 5% to $3.4 billion, led by a 19% increase in Europe and Africa.

Regional Pressures

Despite the overall positive performance, Halliburton faced challenges in the Middle East and Asia, where revenue declined 10.7% year over year and 2% sequentially to $1.3 billion. The company attributed this drop to reduced activity in Kuwait, Iraq, and Qatar amid ongoing geopolitical tensions. CEO Jeff Miller stated that while the company sees a strong global outlook, the regional pressures are a concern. Halliburton has secured several long-term contracts with Saudi Aramco, which it hopes will bolster its international growth strategy.
