Explosions Near Kharg Island
Explosions were reported near Iran's Kharg Island on Saturday. This followed a US strike on an Iranian oil tanker. The incident took place close to the Strait of Hormuz, an important route for global oil shipments. So far, Iranian media sources have not reported any casualties.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the strike was part of a series of operations against Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) forces. CENTCOM claimed these forces posed an imminent threat to shipping in the area. Tensions increased after Iran reportedly launched missiles at vessels in the Strait of Hormuz a day earlier.
